NEWBURY PARK, Calif. -- Phillips, a travel company here, launched
the British Travel Bureau, a tour operator that will specialize in
customized itineraries for groups and FITs.
John E. Morris, the former managing director at Britain Bound,
is director of wholesale travel, and Susan Majesky, a former
executive with Olsen-Travelworld and Uniworld, was named director
of marketing and business development.
The British Travel Bureau, which also is headquartered here,
said it will offer products to England, France, Ireland, Scotland
A spokeswoman for the firm said agency commissions range from
10% to 15%, and tours also can be sold net.
"When we get calls or e-mails from consumers, we suggest a
travel agent in their area," she added.
The firm said it plans to work one-on-one with agents, assisting
them in designing FIT and group itineraries that can focus on
themes such as antique hunting and theater.
