OJAI, Calif. -- The Ojai Valley Inn, located in central
California about 75 miles north of Los Angeles, broke ground on a
31,000-square-foot spa slated to open by year's end.

program and arrange staffing.

The original inhabitants of the Ojai Valley were Chumash
Indians, who are said to have revered it as a place of healing.
Workshops at the spa will emphasize stress elimination, healthy
cooking, yoga and financial well being.

penthouse suite, a meditation loft and sunrise and sunset
Activities will include tai chi classes, organic gardening,
hiking and mountain biking.
In keeping with the design of the inn, the spa facility will
evoke a Spanish village ambience, Hyland said.
The inn offers three restaurants and a bar; a conference center
and ballroom; an 18-hole golf course; tennis courts, and horseback
riding at the on-site ranch and stables.
A range of spa packages will be introduced. Currently, overnight
plans at the inn include:
* A Bed-and-Breakfast package starting at $197 per person.
* A Tennis package, from $257, per person.
* A Classic Golf plan, from $303.
* A Pampering package, from $303.
* A Best of Ojai plan, from $285.
All rates are based on double occupancy.
Packages require a two-night stay and include taxes.
Standard room rates start at $195 per person, double.
