Camp is in session May 20 to Sept. 22

PALM BEACH, Fla. -- Family activities will play a greater role this summer at the Breakers, Palm Beach, starting May 20, when the upscale property introduces a modified version of its Coconut Crew Interactive Camp.

In the past, these activities were designed for children. Now the activities will be for children and adults.

The camp features segments designed for two age groups: Parrots, for children ages 3 to 5, will focus on creativity, imagination and arts and crafts, and Coconuts, for chiuldren ages 6 to 12, will involve activities such as golf, tennis, snorkeling, lawn hockey, soccer and swimming.

The camp operates from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., but guests have the option of purchasing two-hour segments or the whole day.

Noncommissionable fees (applicable to children only) are $25 per child from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.; $30 for 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., including lunch; and $25 for 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. There is no charge for parents.

Among other family activities is a Harry Potter party, a treasure hunt and children vs. parents whiffle ball competition.

A La Carte Family Time involves a party for kids and parents or a snorkeling excursion, a croquet tournament, bike rides, kayaking and golf and tennis contests.

The camp program is in session May 20 to Sept. 22, when there is a $150 credit per room on two-night stays and $200 on three-night stays over major holidays. Funds from the credit can be applied to offset the costs of the camp and other hotel activities.

Activities include Coconut Crew Interactive Camp, spa services, food and beverage purchases, golf and tennis.

Holiday weekends include Memorial Day, July 4, and Labor Day; there is a minimum three-night stay required.

The $150 and $200 credits are applied on Sunday to Wednesday night bookings on rooms costing at least $199, or Thursday to Sunday stays on rooms pegged at $249 or higher. Agents earn 10% pay on the total room rate.
