Capri Beauty Farm Unveils Thalassotherapy Program

ANACAPRI, Italy -- Thalassotherapy, or beauty treatment involving seawater or other oceanic elements, is the focus of a new program at the Capri Beauty Farm, a European spa located adjacent to the Europa Palace Hotel here.

The spa facility is situated nearly 1,000 feet above sea level on the Mediterranean Island of Capri.

The six-night package begins with a medical examination by a team of specialists under the direction of a noted anti-aging expert, according to the spa, then offers visitors a variety of treatments using typical ocean substances such as mineral salts, seaweed and algae.

The medical exam includes an electrocardiogram and dermatological and aesthetic evaluations.

Thalassic treatments use warm mud and ocean seaweed, Turkish baths and underwater massages to heal and prevent common ailments as well as serious illnesses, such as heart problems, skin allergies and arthritis.

The package is priced at about $2,200 per person, double, and includes the following:

* Hotel accommodations and buffet breakfast and dinner daily.

* The medical exam.

* Five underwater massages with seaweed.

* Five warm mud treatments.

* Four massages.

* Two algae treatments.

* Two Turkish baths.
