CANOUAN ISLAND, The Grenadines -- Carenage Bay Beach & Golf
Club here will temporarily close its doors May 7. The 172-villa
property, which opened in late 1999, parted company with Rosewood
Hotels & Resorts on Feb. 20.
Bruce Hearn, managing director, said the resort "anticipates
reopening in 2003 with facilities and services restored to
five-star standards, including the completion of the redesigned
18-hole Jim Fazio golf course."
During the closure, Hearn said the staff will "regroup, perform
necessary maintenance and reestablish an effective sales and
Carenage's sister resort on Canouan, Tamarind Beach Hotel, is
accepting reservations for Carenage clients after May 7. Agents'
commissions are protected, Hearn said.
