NEW YORK -- Although no SARS cases have been reported in the Caribbean, the Turks and Caicos and the U.S. Virgin Islands instituted preparedness plans in case an outbreak should occur.

That brings to nine the number of Caribbean nations that have posted response plans on the Caribbean Tourism Organization Web site at www.onecaribbean.org. They include Antigua and Barbuda; Belize; Dominica; Jamaica; Montserrat; St. Maarten; and Trinidad and Tobago. Other countries may have plans in place, as well.

Other SARS-related resources on the site include information from the Caribbean Epidemiology Centre and the Pan American Health Organization.
