Caribbean tourism board names Riley interim secretary

Hugh Riley was named the interim secretary general of the Caribbean Tourism Organization, filling the post left vacant when Arley Sobers died Aug. 14.

Sobers had assumed the interim post in July when then-Secretary General Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace stepped down to become minister of tourism and aviation for the Bahamas.

Riley, the CTO's director of marketing for the Americas, will fill the post while the organization's executive committee conducts the search for a new secretary general.

Sylma Brown Bramble, deputy director for projects and administration, will assume Riley's duties.

Riley was named marketing director in March 2002 and has since overseen the CTO's marketing program in the U.S. and Canada.

He is also co-COO of the Caribbean Tourism Development Co., the marketing and business development unit owned equally by the CTO and the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Association.
