Carnival's Pride to feature a Body Beautiful Spa

MIAMI -- Carnival Cruise Lines will feature a Body Beautiful Spa aboard the 88,500-ton Carnival Pride, which is to enter service Dec. 30. Located on the forward area of the lido deck and the sun deck, the two-level, 13,700-square-foot spa will feature large picture windows affording views of the ocean.

The spa will have a fully equipped fitness center, with stationary bicycles; treadmills; rowing and stair-climbing machines, free weights and dumbbells. The spa also will have an aerobics studio that will offer a variety of instructor-led fitness classes, such as step and low- and high-impact aerobics, stretching and muscle-building sessions and kickboxing classes. Personal trainers will be on hand for one-on-one training.

Guests also can indulge in one of the spa's European-style therapeutic treatments, such as aroma stone therapy, which uses warm basalt stones and heated and scented oils to massage the body; full body and scalp massages; seaweed wraps; mud packs, and slimming and toning therapies. A full-service beauty salon will offer nail and hair treatments.

Ten private treatment/massage rooms, locker facilities and sauna and steam rooms also will be available. The Pride also will feature four swimming pools and five whirlpools (one in the spa and four others on the lido deck) and a jogging track.

For healthy dining, the Pride offers Nautica Spa Fare, which consists of low-fat and low-calorie dishes as well as meals with decreased sodium and cholesterol content. Vegetarian selections also are available in the formal dining room as well as at the salad bar in the ship's poolside restaurant, the Mermaids' Grille.

The inaugural sailing of the 2,124-passenger Carnival Pride will be a six-day western Caribbean voyage from Miami. A three-day Bahamas cruise from Port Canaveral, Fla., departs Jan. 9, and, beginning Jan. 12, the ship will launch year-round, seven-day cruises from Port Canaveral.
