Cayetano to OK $10M to boost Hawaii marketing

HONOLULU -- Hawaii Gov. Ben Cayetano will sign a law passed by the state legislature giving the Hawaii Tourism Authority an additional $10 million to market the state to tourists, according to the governor's spokeswoman.

The appropriation was part of a package of bills introduced during a special session of the Hawaii Legislature to stimulate the state's ailing economy.

The $10 million is on top of $49 million the HTA already awarded the Hawaii Visitors & Convention Bureau to market the state in 2001.
