Chile: Flight Facts

Getting to Chile, and its main gateway Santiago, gets easier every year as carriers in the market increase their frequencies and new carriers enter the marketplace. This year's entry is Continental which inaugurated nonstop service with DC-10-30 from New York (Newark) to Santiago last May. Gateways and carriers for international flights are as follows:

Dallas/Santiago: American.
Los Angeles/Santiago: American, LanChile.
Miami/Santiago: American, LanChile, United.
New York/Santiago: Continental, LanChile.
Domestic flights are operated by Avant, Ladeco, LanChile and National.

A Visit Chile Fare can be purchased in connection with international tickets and is available for air travel within Chile. The 21-day pass costs $300 for travel to cities either north or south of Santiago; $550 for cities north and south. For $1,080, travelers can include Easter Island in the pass that combines cities either north or south of the capital; for $1,290, Easter Island is included with cities both north and south. Commission is 7%.
