Collette expands roster of independent tours to Canada

PAWTUCKET, R.I. -- Collette Tours here expanded its roster of FIT packages to Canada, including its Quebec programs.

The expanded product is highlighted in a new brochure called Collette Discovery Vacations Canada.

The Collette packages are available year-round and sold land-only or with air fare.

A panoramic view of Quebec City. Formerly sold under the name Air Canada's Canada, the expanded product line features more than 20 FIT packages (and several escorted plans) covering eight Canadian provinces.

Collette said it chose the package's hotels to appeal to customers with a wide range of budgets. Most packages include a dinner at one of the restaurants participating in a dine-around program.

Clients also can choose from several optional activities, including biking, hiking, museum visits and excursions to nearby provinces and attractions.

They also can combine packages and provinces by purchasing rental car options and VIA Rail passes.

Collette said the major advantage of purchasing one of its FIT packages is price.

For example, it said a typical customer who buys a roundtrip air ticket from Boston to Quebec City, spends two nights in a hotel in Quebec City, takes a city tour and buys one dinner would pay an average of $700, compared with approximately $330 for the same vacation purchased through Collette.

In addition to Quebec, Collette is marketing packages to the provinces of New Brunswick; Nova Scotia; Prince Edward Island; Newfoundland and Labrador; Ontario; Alberta, and British Columbia.
