Controversial Holy Land attraction set to open

ORLANDO -- The Holy Land Experience, a controversial, religious-oriented attraction announced in 1999, is set to open in Orlando on Feb. 5.

The attraction will contain biblical recreations from Israel's history.

According to reports, Zion's Hope, an Orlando-based ministry that owns the attraction, plans to use some of the proceeds from merchandise and admission sales to further a goal to convert Jews to Christianity.

The Greater Orlando Board of Rabbis, critical of that mission and the negative image of first-century Jews that it claims will be portrayed at the attraction, asked leaders of various Jewish denominations to tell their congregants not to visit it.
