Copenhagen Marriott to open

COPENHAGEN, Denmark -- The 395-room Copenhagen Marriott Hotel is slated to open on Sept. 1.

The Marriott, Scandinavia's first, is situated along the canal at Kalvebod Brygge, about a 10-minute walk from Tivoli Gardens and Christiansborg Castle.

It's also about a 10-minute walk from the Central Station and a 15-minute drive from Copenhagen Airport.

The hotel has 75 executive rooms on the top two floors as well as four rooms that are handicapped accessible, eight suites and one royal suite, measuring 1,722 square feet.

All rooms have either one king-size or two queen-size beds, and none is smaller than 344 square feet, according to Anette Ravn Jensen, director of sales.

The expected business mix is 65% corporate and 35% leisure, Jensen said.

The hotel will offer an introductory rate of $155 per room, per night, during September.

The standard room rate, beginning Oct. 1, is $239. Commission is 10%.

All rooms are equipped with a hair dryer, iron and ironing board and adjustable air conditioning and heating.

Rounding out the property's offerings are the Terraneo restaurant, with international cuisine, conference space, a fitness room, a sauna and a massage service.

The hotel also has a 5,650-square-foot conference room and eight meeting rooms.
