Costa fire won't cost vessel's delivery date

GENOA, Italy -- A fire on the Costa Fortuna will not delay its work schedule or the vessel's November delivery, according to Costa Cruises.

The fire broke out on the aft section of Deck 8, which will house passenger cabins, and was extinguished after three-and-a-half hours.

No serious injuries were reported, Costa said.

The 2,720-passenger ship, Costa's largest, is currently under construction at the Fincantieri shipyard in Genoa, Italy.
