Talk about late bookings ...
ORLANDO -- While most North American hotels are encountering
late bookings as the result of an unstable U.S. economy and the
effects of Sept. 11, the Crowne Plaza Orlando-Universal experienced
an unusually busy late-minute rush of business for its opening,
according to Joanne Patterson, director of sales.
"Reservations for 100 room nights were made on Aug. 5 for
occupancy starting Aug. 6," she said. "All came from individual
bookings, representing a mixture of travel agent, Internet and
phone reservations," she said.
