Crystal offers three South America plans for '02

LOS ANGELES -- Crystal Cruises is heading to South America in 2002 with three itineraries.

On the three sailings, the Crystal Harmony will take a warm-weather route down the continent's east coast, cruise around Cape Horn and sail the Pacific along its west coast. Port calls are in Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Ecuador and Costa Rica.

Highlights include two nights in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, during Carnival; a visit to the Falkland Islands, and a stop in Ushuaia, Argentina.

Optional trips to Machu Picchu, Peru, and Iguazu Falls, Brazil, are available.

The first voyage is the South American Sojourn, which sails from Jan. 29 to Feb. 15 from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Port calls are in St. Thomas; Fortaleza, Salvador and Rio de Janeiro during Carnival.

Fares start at $5,205 per person, double.

The Patagonian Passage cruise sails from Feb. 25 to March 11 from Buenos Aires to Valparaiso, Chile.

Port calls are in Montevideo, Uruguay; Puerto Madryn, Argentina; Port Stanley, Falkland Islands; Ushuaia, and Punta Arenas and Puerto Montt, Chile.

Rates starts at $4,295.

Shadow of the Andes sails from March 11 to 24 from Valparaiso, Chile, to Acapulco, Mexico. Port calls are in Lima, Peru; Guayaquil, Ecuador, and Puntarenas, Costa Rica.

A three-day excursion to Machu Picchu will be offered from Lima. Cruise fares start at $2,700.

A five-night pre- or post- cruise land program from Buenos Aires is available.
