Delray Beach sees rise in hotel inventory

DELRAY BEACH, Fla. -- According to Debra Acquilano, executive director of the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce's tourism committee, this community now has about 1,400 hotel rooms, including the 254-room Delray Beach Marriott, which opened in February.

Delray Beach Marriott The Marriott is the former Holiday Inn Camino Real, which catered largely to leisure visitors, according to Jim Graham, the hotel's regional sales manager. But with the addition of a business center and 14,000 square feet of meeting space, the refurbished hotel has expanded its market base.

Rates through April start at $169, $179 or $269, depending on the dates of stay. The Marriott has a pool, a health club, several dining options, room and concierge service and other amenities. New presidential suites, currently under construction, were scheduled to open this month, and a theme restaurant will be unveiled next spring.

The Colony Hotel & Cabana Club, an historical 66-room Mediterranean-style, completely nonsmoking hotel, offers room-and-breakfast rates ranging from $139 to $189 for Jan. 15 to March 22; from $109 to $159 for March 23 to April 4, and from $89 to $139 for April 5 to 30. The higher-rate rooms can accommodate up to four people. The hotel also offers Christmas and golf packages.

At the 70-unit, all-suite Seagate, studios and one- and two-bedroom suites in December and January range from $119 to $269 per night; in February and March, from $169 to $339, and in April, from $119 to $339. The hotel offers special rates for long-term guests and meetings.
