CASTRIES, St. Lucia --- Desmond Adrian Skeete, chairman of the St. Lucia Tourist Board, died April 29 in Rodney Bay, St. Lucia, of an asthma attack. Skeete was 57.

Skeete, who was board chairman since 2000, helped elevate the St. Lucia Jazz Festival to international status and was involved in St. Lucia's bid to host the World Cricket Cup in 2007. Skeete also served as a council member for the St. Lucia Air and Seaports Authority.

The St. Lucia Jazz Festival at the end of the month will be dedicated to Skeete's memory.
