DETROIT -- The Detroit Metro Convention & Visitors Bureau
launched a new ad campaign.
The $3 million effort, using the tag line "Reasons," plays on
the area's longstanding tag line, "It's a Great Time in
"We have found through market research that travelers want
reasons to visit a place. Now, with this campaign, we are showing
the reasons," said a spokeswoman for the bureau.
For the first time since 1996, the campaign will include
30-second metro Detroit TV commercials in the city's key tourism
markets of Chicago, Cleveland and west Michigan. Newspapers and
magazine ads also are part of the effort.
"Reasons" was unveiled during the second annual tourism forum
titled Destination 2001, at Laurel Manor in Livonia.
The Detroit bureau was founded in 1896, according to a
spokesman, as the world's first convention and visitors bureau. The
