Disney forms Parks and Resorts Online unit

NORTH HOLLYWOOD, Calif. -- Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Online was formed recently, with a goal of building on the success of Disney's travel-oriented Web sites.

It will focus on guest recognition and create new ways for travel agents and their clients to enhance the guest experience -- before, during and after the trip -- according to a Disney corporate announcement.

Mark Koehler was named senior vice president of this operation, which is a joint effort of Walt Disney Internet Group based here, and Walt Disney Parks and Resorts in Burbank, Calif.

Most recently Koehler was vice president for Internet travel for the Walt Disney Internet Group. Before joining Disney in 1999, he was director of electronic commerce for United Airlines.

In his new post, he not only will continue to oversee the on-line travel offerings, all found on www.disneyvacations.com, but also will concentrate on "making the vacation planning experience easier, more efficient and more personalized," Paul Pressler, chairman of the Parks and Resorts division, said.

"Our guests and travel partners consistently tell us that they desire greater access, higher levels of service and more customization when planning their travel itineraries to our parks, resorts and cruise ships," Pressler said.
