Disneyland suspends sale of walk-up tickets

ANAHEIM, Calif. -- Disneyland suspended sales of single-day walk-up tickets on Dec. 25, 27 and 28 because of heavy crowds.

Travel agents, however, probably were not affected by Disneyland's decision, according to a park spokesman, since such travelers tend to buy packages with multi-day tickets.

Clients with multi-day tickets were still admitted, he explained, regardless of the tour operator used.

Also admitted were non-package guests of the Disney-owned Disneyland and Paradise Pier hotels who had bought multi-day tickets at the hotels.

Single-day ticket sales tend to resume during holiday periods around 6 p.m., as the park remains open until midnight, the spokesman noted.

One reason for Disneyland's heavy crowds over Christmas Week is the Holiday Magic Fireworks Show and the man-made snow that falls thereafter.
