COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.--Until Sept. 7, the Doubletree Hotel-World Arena is participating in the first inclusive Pikes Peak package.

A spokeswoman said the program, known as Pikes Peak Pack, was derived from a study showing tourism here falling behind the national norm, largely because of a lack of packages.

Under Pikes Peak Pack, the 299-room hotel provides a guest room with two queen-sized beds for four nights at a cost of $629 for four people, along with four tickets to each of the following attractions:

  • Royal Gorge Bridge. Spanning the Arkansas River at a height of 1,053 feet, this is the world's highest suspension bridge. In addition to walking across the bridge, visitors can glide across the gorge in an aerial tramway; ride the incline railway to the bottom of the canyon; take a turn on a carousel, or visit a number of other attractions and shops inside the park. Without the package pass, admission is $12 for adults and $9 for children ages 4 to 11 and seniors over age 60.
  • Royal Gorge Frontier Town & Railway. This Old West theme park with its award-winning street shows is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. Visitors can ride horses, pan for gold or take a 30-minute train trip to the rim of the Royal Gorge Canyon. Visitors without a pass pay an entrance fee of $13 for adults and $11 for children.
  • Flying W Ranch. This is a cattle and horse ranch with a working blacksmith in an old western town. A chuckwagon supper, along with an original western show, is included in the package. Daily hours are 4:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. Regular admission is $14 for adults and $7 for children ages 8 and under.
  • Pikes Peak Cog Railway. This four-hour ride on the rails travels from the town of Manitou to the 14,110-foot summit. The view from the top is said to have inspired Katherine Lee Bates to write "America the Beautiful." Tourists without a pass pay $23 for adults and $11 for children ages 5 to 11.
  • According to a spokeswoman for Doubletree-World Arena, the hotel does not offer commissions on the pilot package, but the price quoted is net, allowing agents to add on their own commission.
