ElderTreks offers adventure trips to Nepal and Himalayas

TORONTO -- ElderTreks is offering three small-group departures to Nepal. The 14-day plans, designed for a maximum of 15 participants, starts and ends in Kathmandu.

Highlights include a visit to the handcrafted wooden buildings of Durbar Square and to Pashupatinath, a Hindu pilgrimage site of temples and ghats (sections of shoreline with steps leading into the water) on the Bagmati River.

A mountain flight gives ElderTrek clients views of Himalayan peaks, including Everest, Cho Oyu, Makalu and Lhotse.

The trip includes a two-day jungle adventure in Chitwan National Park to view howler monkeys, bush deer, Asian rhinos, Bengal tigers and other wildlife.

Participants travel via Lumbini and Tansen to the town of Pokhara on Phewa Lake for several day hikes. A drive to Gorkha brings the tour group to the seat of Nepalese monarchs before returning to the capital city of Kathmandu.

Departures are scheduled for Oct. 3 and 17 and Feb. 6, and the land cost is $2,495. ElderTreks is a major adventure tour operator for travelers age 50 and over.
