DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. -- Elite Island Resorts, with eight properties totaling 1,227 rooms in the eastern Caribbean, will offer summer rates for peak-season travel starting Dec. 21.

The rates will be in effect year-round, including Christmas, said Steve Heydt, the company's president.

Peak-season bookings from Dec. 21 through April 20 must be made by Dec. 10 to be eligible for the summer rates. A supplement may apply to bookings in February and March, based upon demand, Heydt said.

Commission is 13% for bookings made directly with the resorts.

Heydt said the company's new moniker -- the firm previously was known as Antigua Resorts -- "identifies our market category. Our properties appeal to travelers who do not want mass-market resorts."

Although Elite's properties carry different names and are in four destinations, they share marketing, sales efforts, management and training.

To mark its most recent acquisition -- St. James's Club, Morgan Bay, St. Lucia -- Elite offers complimentary golf at the nearby St. Lucia Golf & Country Club. On a seven-night stay, guests can play three 18-hole rounds during peak season and four rounds in the off season.

"Golf costs normally run $85 per round, so this represents a substantial savings," Heydt said.

Roundtrip transfers to the club are $10; a mandatory cart rental is $27.50 per cart or $13.75 per golfer.

Other improve-ments planned for the St. Lucia resort include a new gourmet restaurant; expansion of the health club into a full-service spa; expansion of the beach; new landscaping; a second pool with waterfalls and a swim-up bar; and a new canopied entrance.

The inclusive resort also will introduce an EP option, effective Jan. 15.

"We think this will be popular and will offer a significant reduction in price," Heydt said.

Elite Island Resorts also plans to introduce Antigua-St. Lucia combination packages, including interisland air.

Elite's eight resorts project winter occupancies of 75% or better, Heydt said. "Advance bookings are strong and our rates are lower," he said.

Agents account for more than 50% of all bookings, he added. Year-round fam rates for agents and family members also are in effect and are subject to availability.

A new Web site, at www.eliteislandresorts.com, debuted Oct. 3; the agent link on the site will be operational by Nov. 15.
