NEW YORK -- Business travelers and corporate types have a new extended-stay option here.

Oakwood Corporate Housing, an operator of apartments for business travelers, opened 86 furnished units at the Ocean building at One West St., across from Battery Park in lower Manhattan.

Clients have a choice of studios and one-bedroom apartments with a variety of floor plans. The apartments must be leased for a minimum of 30 days. Prices start at $129 a day ($3,870 a month).

Developed by the Moinian Group in New York, Ocean is the latest of the conversions of Wall Street and Battery Park office buildings into apartments. The building has 500 units.

Ocean's 86 corporate apartments, which are located on two floors, feature views of the Hudson River, Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty. The building's lobby re-creates a 14th century Venetian palace, complete with arched ceilings painted with Italian frescoes.

The corporate units feature 16-foot ceilings, oak parquet floors, marble bathrooms and fully equipped kitchens.
