Festival eyes record crowd

CASTRIES, St. Lucia -- St. Lucia's 12th annual Jazz Festival May 2 to 11 could be its largest ever, according to Peter Hilary Modeste, director of tourism.

The event was attended by more than 11,500 last year.

Performance venues range from theaters, concert halls and nightclubs to outdoor settings, such as Pigeon Island on the island's northwest coast.

Headline performers include Earth, Wind & Fire; Boyz II Men; the Spinners; Yolanda Adams; Ashford & Simpson; Darius Rucker; Nnenna Freelon; Herbie Mann; Incognito; Mike Phillips; and Four Play.

Tickets range from $38 to $50 for adults and $18 to $38 for children age 10 and under.
