Firm Touts Plans for 850th Jubilee

LAKE WORTH, Fla. -- Intourist-Rahim Tours was appointed the general sales agent for Moscow's 850th jubilee this year.

The appointment was made by Moscow Mayor Yuri Luzhkov, who has given the tour firm's parent company, Moscow-based VAO Intourist, special access to jubilee activities and events.

Intourist-Rahim created several three- and four-night jubilee land packages for independent travelers.

Each plan includes airport transfers, daily breakfasts, a champagne and caviar dinner, a city tour and a visit to the Kremlin and Armoury Museum.

The following is a sampling of four-night programs:

* The 850th Jubilee Tour features tickets to the soon-to-be-reopened Museum of History of the City of Moscow; Victory Park; Tretyakov art gallery, and a performance at the Bolshoi Theater and Moscow Circus.

Prices start at $672, double, with accommodations at the Hotel Intourist or Danilovsky.

* The Tchaikovsky and More Cultural Tour takes clients to the Tchaikovsky House Museum in Klin; the Kuskovo Estate; the Shalapin Museum, and performances at the Bolshoi and the Tchaikovsky Concert Theater.

Prices start at $1,423, double, with accommodations at the Hotel Tverskaya.

* Visitors with an interest in traditional Russian culture might opt for the Kalinka Folkloric Tour, which visits the Kolomenskoe Estate, the lacquer box Art Studio in Fedoskino, the Moscow Circus and a folkloric show.

Prices start at $1,022, double, with accommodations at the Hotel Arbat.

Highlights of the three-night programs include a stop at the Red October Chocolate and Candy Factory, admission to the Kremlin's Diamond Fund and a night out at a typical Russian dinner theater and floor show.
