Firm launches Big Island shuttle

KAILUA-KONA--Roberts Hawaii started a shuttle service on the Big Island between the Kohala Coast hotels and Kailua-Kona town in Kona.

The Kona Coast Shuttle operates daily, about every two hours, with the 30-mile trip

between Mauna Kea Resort and town taking about one hour. Shuttle service from Mauna Kea Resort starts at 7:10 a.m., with the last departure at 6:10 p.m., and from Kailua-Kona, service starts at 8:30 a.m., with the last departure at 7:30 p.m. The shuttle stops at hotels at Mauna Kea, Waikoloa and Mauna Lani destination resorts.

In Kailua-Kona, passengers other than those who have pre-booked activities leaving Kailua-Kona Pier are dropped off at Hilo Hattie. Departures are from Kona Inn Shopping Village.

The price is $20 roundtrip or $10 one way. The cost for children age 2 to 12 is $15 and $8 respectively. Roberts, Hawaii's largest tour and transportation company, is the Hawaii Gray Line franchisee.
