Firm schedules 8-day Alaska safaris

GIRDWOOD, Alaska -- Alaska Wildland Adventures, in its 22nd year, introduced an eight-day safari.

The plan features three full days exploring the terrain and wildlife of Denali National Park around Mount McKinley; four days in the Kenai National wildlife Refuge and Kenai Fjords National Park, with hiking, rafting and wildlife viewing, and an overnight in Anchorage.

In Denali, accommodations are at the Denali Backcountry Lodge, owned by Alaska Wildland Adventures.

raftingIn Kenai, stays are at the Kenai Backcountry Lodge and the Kenai Fjords Wilderness Lodge, which is on Fox Island in majestic Resurrection Bay.

The tour includes all land and water transportation, accommodations, meals and snacks on the trail, use of any necessary equipment and an escort throughout.

Eight departures are scheduled, starting June 4. The price starts at $3,195 per person, double occupancy.

Included in the company's new brochure are short-duration components that can be used to create total packages.

Among these are a four-night Kenai safari starting at $1,595 per person; overnight room rates at the Kenai Backcountry Lodge (from $299 per person, double) and the Denali Backcountry Lodge (also $299 per person, double), and a series of two- to seven-day packages at the Kenai River Sportfishing Lodge (starting at about $425 per person, per day).
