Florida reports visitor increase

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. -- Florida tourism set another record in 1998, with a 3.7% increase to 48.7 million visitors, according to Visit Florida. The state managed to chalk up a strong performance despite four soft months -- August, September, October and December -- the private-public promotional agency said. Visit Florida said it expects the upward trend to continue in spite of some softness in the international sector, particularly in Canada and Brazil.
