Food Network comes to Waikiki

HONOLULU -- Sheraton hotels in Waikiki will host the Food Network's show "Cooking Across America, the Chefs of TV Tour," Sept. 25 through 27.

The three-day event will feature a charity gala to benefit Aloha United Way on Friday, Sept 25, at Sheraton Moana Surfrider, followed by two days of demonstrations at Sheraton Waikiki and the adjacent Royal Hawaiian.

On Saturday and Sunday, attendees will meet with the television chefs, with samples and recipesoffered, during four one-hour demonstrations at each hotel, from noon to 6 p.m.

Activities will end with the network's chefs competing against Sheraton and other Hawaii chefs, with attendees voting to choose the best dishes.

The show, scheduled to be aired Nov. 22, will be Food Network's first Hawaii event and the 11th stop on a 20-city tour.

Robin Leach will host.

Participating network chefs include David Rosengarten, the Too Hot Tamales, Mary Sue Milliken, Susan Feniger, Curtis Aikens and Jacques Pepin.

Admission is $45 per day.
