WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Starwood Hotels & Resorts said it will
open the company's first Four Points by Sheraton brand in New York
The new-build, 158-room Four Points by Sheraton Manhattan will
be located in the city's Chelsea district, an area known for its
eclectic nightlife, galleries, restaurants and shopping.
The hotel is owned by Chelsea Grand and operated by Interstate
Hotels. Starwood will manage the property.
Starwood said its Four Points brand, which fits into the
full-service, midprice category, is the company's fastest-growing
Starwood last year opened Four Points hotels in Woburn, Mass.;
Detroit, Mich.; Fairview Heights, Ill.; and Wichita, Kan.
This year, Four Points hotels are scheduled to open in Egypt,
China, Paraguay and Uruguay.
Since its inception in 1995, the Four Points by Sheraton brand
has grown to 153 properties in 16 countries.
Hoyt Harper, the brand's senior vice president, said the new
hotel will "add value to Starwood's already strong presence in New
Starwood has the distinction of being the largest hotel operator
in the city with 11 properties, but its five W hotels, the St.
Regis and the Westin New York at Times Square properties are more
synonymous with trendy and pricey than value.
The new hotel will be located on the south side of West 25th
Street between Sixth and Seventh avenues.
The 21-story hotel will feature a traditional brick-and-stucco
exterior and a "chic vintage interior," according to Starwood.
Like all Four Points by Sheraton properties, the hotel will
feature an on-site restaurant and lounge serving three meals a day;
room service with a 30-minute guarantee; a fitness center; and
business services and meetings space with full catering
Rooms will feature work areas with a desk and ergonomic chair;
two dual-line telephones with voice mail and data ports; and
Rates will range from $149 to $299 per room, double.
