Gambling ship starts voyages

MIAMI -- Alpha Florida Entertainment's newly constructed gaming ship started twice-daily sailings from Haulover Park Marina, north of Bal Harbour.

The Ella Star, which can hold up to 345 passengers, features three decks.

The first two offer 7,000 square feet of Las Vegas-style gaming with 165 slot machines and 20 table games.

The third deck has dining facilities and entertainment.

The vessel can reach the three-mile limit for gambling about 20 minutes after sailing.

Departures are daily at noon and 7:30 p.m.

Individual fares are $8 to $10 depending on board time. The buffet is optional at $8 for lunch and $12 for dinner.

Group fares depend on size and services desired, including ground transportation. The group sales manager is Angela Rizzi at (305) 474-9982.

Alpha Florida Entertainment is a subsidiary of New York-based Alpha Hospitality Corp.
