Gleneagles opens Braid House extension

PERTHSHIRE, Scotland -- There's more room at Scottish resort Gleneagles, now that Braid House -- a new, $15 million, four-story extension -- opened with 59 guest rooms and four meetings rooms.

Rates begin at about $550 per night, including 17.5% VAT; Gleneagles pays agents 8%.

The new 450-square-foot rooms feature air conditioning; gas fireplaces; heated bathroom floors; 110-volt outlets; CD/DVD players; Internet access; laptop safes; insulated, soundproof walls; and either patios, terraces or balconies.

Some 60% of the new rooms offer a view of Braid Links, an 8,600-square-foot putting green.

Gleneagles, a member of Leading Hotels of the World, is set on 850 private acres located less than an hour by car from Edinburgh and Glasgow.
