Globus plan features cruise, rail tour

LITTLETON, Colo. -- Globus, based here, scheduled a 15-day Ultimate Alaska and the Yukon tour in 2000.

The itinerary features a four days of sailing on Cruise West's Sheltered Seas between Ketchikan and Juneau by way of Misty Fjords, Tracy Arm, Leconte Glacier and other Inside Passage wilderness bays and inlets.

Guests on the Ultimate Alaska and the Yukon tour will spend four days on the Sheltered Seas exploring the Inside Passage. Passengers on the Sheltered Seas, a day boat, will spend the evenings ashore in the best available lodges and hotels.

Also included in the Globus package is passage on the White Pass & Yukon Railway from Skagway up to Canadian territory.

From the Canadian border, the group will take a motorcoach ride through the colorful gold rush townships of the Yukon before reentering Alaska for an overnight in Fairbanks in the interior region.

From Fairbanks, the Globus participants will board an Alaska Railroad train for the ride through Denali National Park to Anchorage. A day cruise to Barry Arm in Prince William Sound rounds out the program.

The itinerary leaves enough free time for optional river rafting, wildlife viewing and flightseeing over Leconte Glacier.

The package is priced from $3,699 per person, double, land only. That price includes the best available hotels, daily breakfast and many dinners, services of a tour director, sightseeing, land transportation, hotel taxes, service charges and baggage handling.
