NEW YORK -- Shangri-La's Golden Flower Hotel, located in Xian,
China, is offering a weekend accommodations and tour package to see
the area's famed terra-cotta warriors excavation.
package costs $168 for single accommodations and $188 for a double
room. The package includes deluxe accommodations for any two
consecutive nights starting on Friday, Saturday or Sunday; daily
American breakfast; round-trip airport transfers; a half-day guided
tour to see the terra-cotta warriors and horses excavation, the
Banpo Museum and the Hua Qing Hot Springs and the use of the
hotel's health club.
The awe-inspiring terra-cotta warriors excavation is located
about 30 minutes from the
hotel and contains a 2,180-year-old terra cotta army of 8,000
soldiers posted to guard the tomb of Emperor Qin. It is believed
that the emperor, who unified China and governed during the
completion of the Great Wall 2,200 years ago, made an edict to bury
the clay soldiers in order to outlaw the live burial of slaves that
was fashionable before his rule.
The 3,000-year-old city of Xian is known as the ancient capital
of China and served as the home of 11 dynasties for more than 1,000
years. The city also is the start of the Silk Road trading route
that stretched across Central Asia. This route allowed for contact
and, over time, a blending of European and Asian cultures and
