Grace Hotels' packages highlight additions

CAPE TOWN, South Africa -- Grace Hotels unveiled several additions to its Cape Grace and Mount Grace properties and also is offering packages for couples and families.

The Cape Grace Hotel in Cape Town, which opened Bascule, a whiskey and wine bar, in December, is offering a two-night Pamper package through April 30.

Guests can choose the Deluxe Penthouse stay for a rate of $588 per couple, per night, or the Loft Terrace option for a rate of $314per couple, per night.

From May 1 through Aug. 31, the rates increase to $735 and $386, respectively.

The deluxe option includes penthouse accommodations with panoramic views from a private rooftop garden terrace and a heated outdoor Jacuzzi.

The Loft Terrace package features a room with doors opening onto a veranda overlooking the yacht marina or harbor.

Both packages also include a selection of aromatherapy oils, a champagne breakfast delivered to the room the second morning, a candlelighted three-course dinner on the guests' private balcony or at the hotel's Quay West restaurant.

Cape Grace also is offering a three-night Romantic Interlude package through April 30.

The package rate is $1,014 per couple.

Buffet breakfasts are served in the Quay West restaurant each morning, and brunch is delivered to the couple's room on their second day.

Mount Grace Country House Hotel in Magaliesburg added 15 new units in hopes of attracting more leisure customers, according to a hotel spokeswoman.

The new stone cottages, each with a private veranda, are known as the Treetops Village.

The rooms feature spacious bathrooms, underfloor heating, double vanities and separate showers.

The hotel is offering packages for families and couples.

The two-night Romance Package starts at $357 per couple and includes accommodations, dinner the first night and breakfast the next morning.

Guests can either dine at the hotel's Copperfield restaurant or the recently opened Stoep restaurant.

Mount Grace Hotel will open its doors to children for a Family Fun Fortnight from April 1 to 21.

For these three weeks, the normally adults-only property is offering all meals and supervised programs for up to two children age 16 and under sharing accommodations with their parents.

Rates start at $129 per night for a village room, based on availability.

The hotel's staff created activities for children including mountain biking, trout fishing, nature walks, tennis, croquet and swimming. Younger children can participate in workshops and treasure hunts.

All packages pay 10% commission. Rates do not include air fare.
