FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Grand Bahama Vacations here is partnering with Bahamasair to offer charter flights from Fort Lauderdale, Fla., to Grand Bahama Island, replacing its previous agreeement with Laker Airlines.

The firm is promoting the new alliance with a Two Nights and Flights special starting at $179, per person, double, with transfers and accommodations at the Crowne Plaza Golf Resort and Casino at the Royal Oasis on Grand Bahama, available now through June.

The Royal Oasis is a 28,000- square-foot casino with Las Vegas-style gaming, including slot machines and video slots; both Royal Oasis and Grand Bahama Vacations are part of the Driftwood Hospitality Management group based in Jupiter, Fla.

Grand Bahama Vacations owner Steve Kates said the arrangement with Bahamasair is "more advantageous" than the Laker Airlines partnership. "We also feel strongly about supporting the national airline of a location we have been doing business with for years," Kates added.

Grand Bahama Vacations offers nonstop flights to Grand Bahama Island via charter service operated by Falcon Air Express from major U.S. hubs including Atlanta; Fort Lauderdale; Baltimore; Hartford, Conn.; Rochester, N.Y.; Raleigh/Durham, N.C.; Richmond, Va.; Milwaukee; Providence, R.I.; Cincinnati, and Cleveland.
