FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Grand Bahama Vacations expanded its
service to offer flights and packages into Nassau/Paradise Island
from four U.S. gateways.
The service begins June 14 and will be marketed as Driftwood
"We chose to expand into Nassau/Paradise Island because we own
two properties there, and it was a natural progression," said Kamal
Shah, managing director for Grand Bahama Vacations.
Driftwood Hospitality Management, which is the parent company of
Grand Bahama Vacations and Driftwood Vacations, owns the Holiday
Inn Junkanoo Beach on Nassau and the Holiday Inn SunSpree Paradise
Island on Paradise Island.
"We created the second brand to differentiate between the two
destinations (Grand Bahama Island and Nassau/Paradise Island),"
"Grand Bahama is more leisurely paced while Nassau/Paradise
Island attracts a different type of customer, especially with

the Dallas and Tampa markets have been "very receptive."
Consumer ads broke on April 28 in the four gateways and Shah is
"very optimistic" about the new service.
Nassau/Paradise Island will welcome six flights per week with
174 passengers per flight, a number Shah said may be increased.
Service from Fort Lauderdale begins June 14 with four flights
Jacksonville and Tampa, Fla., begin service June 15 with two
flights per week.
From Dallas, seasonal, twice-weekly service runs June 14 through
To kick off the Nassau/Paradise Island service, Driftwood
Vacations partnered with the Holiday Inns of the Bahamas to offer
special rates. Three-, four- and seven-night packages at Holiday
Inn SunSpree Paradise Island and Holiday Inn Junkanoo Beach are
priced from $319 per person, double.
In addition to the Holiday Inns, programs also are offered at
Atlantis and the Sheraton Grand Resort on Paradise Island and the
British Colonial Hilton on Nassau.
