Grand Case Beach Club boasts best year ever

GRAND CASE, St. Martin -- Business at Grand Case Beach Club in 2000 was the best in the property's history and 2001 looks even better, according to general manager Steve Wright.

Last year's average occupancy hovered around 77%. For the first seven months of 2001, levels rose to 81%, said Wright.

Business for the summer and fall looks "very good," Wright said, thanks in large part to the continued support of tour operators that sell the destination, including Gogo Worldwide Vacations and Travel Impressions.

The 72-room property is completing a nearly two-year renovation plan this fall. The majority of the work was finished in June.

All units were fitted with new curtains and bedding, and some of the rooms have new furniture.

Also, a Professional Association of Diving Instructors dive center became fully operational, and dive packages will be in place by the end of September.

By mid-October, 24 units will be outfitted with new kitchens.

The renovations at the property also feature work on the pool and tennis court and a redesign of the roof line allowing for terraces on nine units.

Through Oct. 26, nightly rates start at $115 per couple for a gardenview studio.
