SEATTLE -- Gray Line of Alaska, a Holland America affiliate, is
offering a special lower rate for those booking its McKinley
Explorer package before May 15. The tour, a four -- night itinerary
between Anchorage and Fairbanks, through Denali National Park, is
brochure-priced at $915 per person, double, in the moderate
accommodations category, between May 13 and May 24. Under the new
pricing plan, it sells for $749 per person, double, if booked by
the May 15 deadline. In the deluxe hotel category during the same
period, the published price is $1,065 per person, double; it
becomes $899 per person, double, under the new program.
Prices between June 1 and June 30 are also reduced, from $1,085
to $849 per person, double, in a moderate hotel, and from $1,195 to
$949 per person, double, for a deluxe hotel room.
The McKinley Explorer package features a train ride through
Denali on the popular McKinley Explorer train of Holland America
Westours. After an overnight stay and a guided wildlife tour in the
park, the group moves on, again by train, to Fairbanks.
A day cruise on the Chena and Tanana Rivers and a visit to Gold
Dredge No 8, an exclusive Gray Line/Holland America Westours
feature, follow before the flight back to Anchorage. Gold Dredge No
8 is the only Alaskan gold dredge open to the public. It was at its
peak during the Fairbanks gold boom in the 1920s and stands in an
area eight miles from downtown Fairbanks that has been declared a
National Historic Site.
