Grenada reports Q1 increase in U.S. visitors

ST. GEORGE'S, Grenada -- Good news from Grenada: First-quarter visitor arrivals jumped 16% in 2002 over the same period a year ago.

From January through March, the island welcomed 12,331 U.S. visitors, compared with 10,648 in 2001's first quarter.

William Joseph, director of tourism, hailed the increase as an "encouraging sign that Americans are traveling again and discovering a peaceful retreat in Grenada."
