SUMMERLIN, Nev. -- Maupintour's Gutsy Women Travel program introduced an October tour of Las Vegas to its product line.

Targeted to women, the three-night package, slated for Oct. 3 to 6, includes time for gambling, shopping and shows, but also features offerings that go beyond the standard Las Vegas itinerary.

"As with all of the Gutsy Women programs, the Las Vegas program combines many aspects of the multidimensional personality of women," said April Merenda, vice president of sales and marketing of Lowestfare, the parent company of Maupintour and Gutsy Women. "It includes culture, pampering, soft adventure and downtime."

Pampering begins with its choice of hotels: the Venetian. The first day's itinerary is relaxed, with nothing scheduled but the arrival and a welcome reception in the early evening.

The rest of the time, guests are free to enjoy gambling or a show, explore the city, relax or make use of the hotel's facilities.

The package also incorporates soft adventure, with two hiking trips in the surrounding countryside -- one to the Valley of the Fire and one to the Red Rock Canyon area. Both take place in the morning, leaving the afternoon and evening open for leisure.

The Valley of Fire trip, on the second day, includes a picnic lunch and returns to the hotel around 3 p.m. Dinner and show are included that evening.

The trip to Red Rock Canyon on the third day includes a guided, off-road hike and a picnic, with the return to the hotel by 1 p.m.

That evening, a full spa treatment at the Canyon Ranch Spa Club and a dinner cruise on Lake Mead aboard the Desert Princess featuring a visit to Boulder City are included. The plan also includes a one-hour, sunset helicopter tour.

The land-only rate starts at $1,675 per person, double, and includes three breakfasts, two lunches and three dinners. Plans are subject to a 10% discount if booked by May 31.
