SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic -- The Haiti crisis has not impacted resorts or bookings in neighboring Dominican Republic, which shares a border with Haiti.

Hotel companies, including Sol Melia (with three properties in the Dominican Republic), AMResorts (also three), and EMI Resorts (one), reported no inquiries, cancellations or postponements in existing reservations.

Miguelina Ortiz de Subveri, Dominican minister of tourism, said that the border between Haiti and the Dominican Republic "is completely secure" as are tourist sites in the Dominican Republic.
