Hawaii Briefs: Ohana Hotels rolls out new packages for its Waikiki properties

Ohana Hotels & Resorts is offering new packages at its Waikiki hotels. Guests at all properties get the Ohana Waikiki Connection amenity package, which includes rides on the Waikiki Trolley; no surcharge on in-room, long-distance phone calls within the U.S. and Canada; Internet access; in-room coffee and tea; and daily newspaper.

At the Ohana Waikiki Beachcomber on Kalakaua Avenue, the Breakfast Package combines a partial oceanview, oceanview or deluxe oceanview room with a daily breakfast buffet for two at the Hibiscus Cafe. The package, starting at $169 per night, is available through May 31.

At the Ohana Islander Waikiki, which is being renovated, guests pay $99 for standard guest rooms and $109 for cityview rooms. Rates include two vouchers for a morning coffee and a baked item at a nearby Starbucks. The package is valid through May 31.

Maui wowie

The Ritz-Carlton, Kapalua on Maui is offering several packages valid through June 30. For example, the Escape to Maui package includes a fifth night free when booking five consecutive nights, guaranteed upgrade at the time of booking from partial oceanview to oceanview accommodations and a daily buffet breakfast for two. Seasonal pricing starts at $570 per room, per night.

Meanwhile, the Island Paradise and Special Promotion packages both offer a sixth night free as well as a $250 food-and-beverage credit (under the Island Paradise plan) or daily breakfast for two at the Terrace Restaurant (for Special Promotion).

Pricing for both packages starts at $450 per night.

Other deals include the three-night Pilialoha, or Romance, package, from $452 per night; the Golf in Paradise package, from $555 per night; and the Explore Maui Car package, from $385 per night with compact-car rental and $410 with luxury car rental.

Music to guests' ears

The Embassy Suites -- Waikiki Beach Walk has added a free CD compilation of Hawaiian music to the list of amenities guests receive during the check-in process.

Arrival at the new property already entails a sit-down check-in process, complimentary tropical beverage and personal welcome by one of the hotel's managers.

The Embassy Suites -- Waikiki Beach Walk calls its Hawaiian music CD a unique collection with vocals as well as slack-key guitar and ukulele instrumentals.

The hotel collaborated with Grammy Award-winning slack-key guitarist Daniel Ho. All artists featured on the CD are from the Islands.

Rates at the Embassy Suites -- Waikiki Beach Walk, where all guest units feature a CD/MP3 player, start at $399 for a one-bedroom suite and $549 for a two-bedroom suite.

A limited introductory rate from $269 for a one-bedroom and $399 for a two-bedroom suite is being offered on a space-available basis.
