Hawaii Sheraton to open 'Creation: A Polynesian Odyssey'

HONOLULU -- Sheraton Princess Kaiulani will open a new show in its Ainahau Showroom on Oct. 1.

Called "Creation: A Polynesian Odyssey," it will replace the "Spectacular Polynesian Revue," running for 10 years, and one of Waikiki's longest-running shows. Fred Orr, the hotel's general manager, said the revue has had great success, but with Oahu's high number of repeat visitors "we felt it was time to create a new product."

The show, he said, will include "unique illusions and special effects." According to the hotel, there will be a three-stage volcanic set, state-of-the-art lighting, lasers, live Hawaiian music, drums and fire-knife dancing. The story will follow the volcanic creation of the islands and the journeys of Polynesians to the Hawaii of today.

Tihati Productions, the revue producer, is producing "Creation," which will have two shows a day. Prices will remain the same for the revue: $60 for the first dinner show at 5:15 p.m.; $53 for the second at 8 p.m., and $29 for either cocktail show, with seating at 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Dinner shows will include a buffet with prime rib and other entrees and a standard drink. Cocktail shows will include the choice of two standard drinks or one exotic cocktail.
