BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Hilton Hotels Corp. might be developing
another Las Vegas property.
Hilton teamed up with BET Holdings, the parent company of Black
Entertainment Television, to explore the feasibility of developing
a hotel-casino in the gaming and entertainment mecca.
Although the terms of the deal are in the initial stages of
development, the joint venture project, called BET SoundStage
Casino, would target the more than 2.2 million African-Americans
who visit Las Vegas each year.
Should the project become a reality, it is anticipated that
Hilton will manage the gaming activities and other general
operations of the hotel and recreational facilities while BET will
provide its entertainment services and marketing expertise to the
BET SoundStage Casino would further diversify Hilton's
hotel-casino offerings in the Las Vegas market.
The firm currently operates the Las Vegas Hilton and Flamingo
It has acquired Bally Entertainment Corp., which operates
Bally's Las Vegas and is building the 3,000-room Paris Casino
Resort on the Strip.
Hilton's acquisition of Bally has created the largest gaming
company in the nation.
BET said it is confident that the venture will provide a unique
opportunity for the company to become a significant player in the
