BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Hilton Hotels Corp. might be developing another Las Vegas property.

Hilton teamed up with BET Holdings, the parent company of Black Entertainment Television, to explore the feasibility of developing a hotel-casino in the gaming and entertainment mecca.

Although the terms of the deal are in the initial stages of development, the joint venture project, called BET SoundStage Casino, would target the more than 2.2 million African-Americans who visit Las Vegas each year.

Should the project become a reality, it is anticipated that Hilton will manage the gaming activities and other general operations of the hotel and recreational facilities while BET will provide its entertainment services and marketing expertise to the venture.

BET SoundStage Casino would further diversify Hilton's hotel-casino offerings in the Las Vegas market.

The firm currently operates the Las Vegas Hilton and Flamingo Hilton.

It has acquired Bally Entertainment Corp., which operates Bally's Las Vegas and is building the 3,000-room Paris Casino Resort on the Strip.

Hilton's acquisition of Bally has created the largest gaming company in the nation.

BET said it is confident that the venture will provide a unique opportunity for the company to become a significant player in the gaming industry.

BET is a national television network that provides a platform for programming aimed at an African-American audience.
