Hilton launches 'Borg' Star Trek attraction

LAS VEGAS -- Trekkies, take note. Paramount Parks, which developed "Star Trek: The Experience" at the Las Vegas Hilton, plans to open an out-of-this-world expansion to the attraction this spring.

The multimillion-dollar galactic experience will be called "Borg Invasion 4D," after the Borg collective, which, according to the Paramount folks, "is an immensely powerful group of cybernetically enhanced beings who gain knowledge and technology by absorbing other species."

The premise of the attraction, which will use both live actors and special effects, revolves around visitors touring a futuristic research facility.

While there, they are pursued by members of the Borg collective, who try to capture them using 24th century cybernetic technology.

One of the highlights of "Borg Invasion 4D" will be an original 3D film featuring cast members from the "Star Trek: Voyager" TV show, including Robert Picardo as the Doctor, Alice Krige as Borg Queen and Kate Mulgrew as Admiral Janeway.

After their rescue from the Borg, visitors will be able to enjoy the original "Star Trek: The Experience" attraction as well as dine in Quark's Bar & Restaurant and browse in the shops at the Deep Space Nine Promenade, which feature the world's largest collection of Star Trek memorabilia.
