WAIKIKI, Hawaii -- Hilton Hawaiian Village will re-open the Kalia
Tower Sept. 1 after being closed more than a year to eradicate
mold, according to a spokeswoman.
Completed in May 2001, all 453 guestrooms were shuttered in July
2002 when mold was discovered.
Mired in lawsuits, Hilton forged ahead to reconstruct the
building and refurnish the rooms at a cost of $55 million.
Legal wrangling is expected to continue for years.
