Homewood opens Texas hotel

BEVERLY HILLS, Calif. -- Homewood Suites by Hilton, the extended-stay, all-suite brand of Beverly Hills, Calif.-based Hilton Hotels Corp., opened an 89-suite hotel in Arlington, Texas, in the Dallas area.

The newly constructed hotel brings the Homewood Suites portfolio to nearly 100 properties.

Hilton expects to open its 100th Homewood Suites property in Washington this spring. Overall, the Homewood brand plans to grow by 30% in 2001 and 2002, with a goal of adding 15 hotels in 2001.

The brand was launched in 1989 and targets extended-stay, all-suite travelers. Hilton took control of the Homewood Suites brand following its 1999 acquisition of Promus Hotel Corp.

The Arlington property is owned by Tharaldson Enterprises and is located near Six Flags Over Texas and the Ballpark at Arlington, home of the Texas Rangers.

Like other Homewood properties, the Arlington hotel offers complimentary breakfast in the hotel's lodge area, evening receptions, a business center and an exercise room. All suites have full kitchens, two phones, two televisions and free local calls.

Other amenities include an indoor pool and 346 square feet of meetings space.
